45- Julie Catherine Vigna

They were brought to the Court of Adjudication; highest legal court of the fae. Here Yoran would be required to defend human-kind on the charges of oppression and crimes perpetrated against the peoples of Argot. The second charge was against Yoran himself, high-ranking member of the Establishment, for the assassination of Morath, Queen of Queens of the Fae. At the end of what proposed to be a lengthy court session, Final Judgement would be pronounced, and the Ceremony would commence.

The outcome of the Trial would either bring human and fae together in everlasting peace, or would forever set them apart and commence the war that would surely bring total devastation and extinction to both their worlds.

Sian, Marci and Bethany, cleaned up so as not to disgrace the dignity of the court, and leg shackles exchanged for light but strong chains linking them together, were escorted to a private bench to the right of the Adjudicator’s Throne by Janosc.

Court attendants wheeled in the Defender Chair— Yoran’s wrists and ankles strapped securely to its frame and base. Marci cried out and made to rise from the bench, but was stopped by Janosc.

A gong boomed, the sonorous vibration resonating throughout the building, and the courtroom stilled. Everyone rose and bowed their heads as the Court Adjudicator swept in and settled on the throne.

Yoran’s eyes widened in disbelief and he rasped, “YOU?!!”

Morath, Queen of Queens of the Fae and Court Adjudicator, gazed directly at Yoran, her smile frosty and eyes piercing his brain with blue ice.

Write a Story with Me Part 29 – An unexpected Savior by Kai Damian

Surprise!  I’m changing the day for “Write a Story with Me” from Tuesdays to Mondays.  Why?  Well, ’cause I can!  Here we go!

Three weeks ago we left Janelle the Fae Queen while getting help to our poor Mommy in labor. Then we left them to be thrown back into the heat of battle where Marci is still tied to a bed with a huge cliffhanger!  Than Bethany fell out of the sky.  But is Daddy dead?  I can’t stand it anymore!!!!!!!

29 – Kai Damian – Battle String

“Marci,” Yoran screamed as he opened his eyes, but his cry was lost in the chaos that trapped him like a coffin of wind and fire. The ship was crumbling around him and his men were sliding down into the water, lifeless. Covered in blood and hanging by a thread—literally, as his jacket had hooked itself onto an open cabinet door—he watched his two young daughters jump off the ship and disappear into the tempest below them. As he reached for them, screaming their names, he heard a snap and started rapidly sliding down toward nothingness once again.

“Please keep Natalia safe,” he prayed, and closed his eyes, ready for the end. “Good bye my loves.”

“Not today” he heard a woman’s voice behind him, and felt her grab his hand and pull him after her. As he opened his eyes, he and his mysterious savior were free falling into the eye of the storm that had appeared out of thin air before the ship went down. All he could see in the midst of the gray cloud that engulfed them was long, red hair flowing behind a young woman dressed in a blue starship uniform. Their hands were welded together, and the moment he allowed himself to feel her grip, he knew. The pain of losing his eldest for the second time hit him like a boulder coming off a steep mountain and he lost consciousness once again.

“Daddy, daddy, wake up,” Marci cried. Yoran opened his eyes to find his two youngest daughters shaking his arm as they knelt beside him on the frigid marble floor of an opulent room open to the sky above. Behind them, with a stern look on her face and her arms tightly crossed, stood his stolen child, his beloved Sian.

Write a Story with Me Part 28 – Oh Snap! Who is that? by Julie Catherine

Yay!  It’s Write a Story with Me day!

Two weeks ago we left Janelle the Fae Queen while getting help to our poor Mommy in labor. Then we left them to be thrown back into the heat of battle with a huge cliffhanger!  Is Daddy dead?  Let’s see if we can find out!

28 – Julie Catherine Vigna – Battle String

She couldn’t tear her eyes away; willed the rust of bile down while bitter tears singed her hair as it whipped across her cheeks. Helpless and terrified, she watched the rain of bodies as they cascaded around her, desperately trying to keep her focus on the one that was her father. Something landed with a thump on the bed and bounced off.

Marci craned her neck towards the movement, just in time to see the hand gripping the bedrail. Unable to help herself she stared in horrified fascination, her heart thudding with pain and fear. Marci’s relief was palpable as Bethany’s toque appeared over the edge of the rail and she hauled herself up, battling against the strong winds that buffeted them both.

“Marci, you’re alive Thank God!” Bethany crawled towards her sister and frantically loosened the knots that tied her sister into the bed. Her eyes were huge and wild with fright as she worked feverishly at the bindings. She sobbed, clinging to her sister for reassurance as much as relief. “I am so, so sorry; I never meant you to come to any harm— I swear. Can you ever forgive me for my foolishness?”

Marci didn’t understand what Bethany was saying, but now wasn’t the time to ask questions. She was just happy to have her sister there with her. If they survived there would be time to sort it all out later.  And it was very likely they wouldn’t make it, for the bed was swooping down towards the icy waters at an alarming rate.

A raspy voice whispered in her ear; it sounded familiar, but she couldn’t quite place it. “NOW— JUMP!”
